Mr Shashank Garg is a seasoned dispute resolution practitioner skilled in international commercial arbitration, sports arbitration, construction law arbitration, civil and commercial mediation and litigation. He is an Advocate with over thirteen years of practice before the Supreme Court of India, the High Court of Delhi and other judicial and quasi-judicial forums. He often represents clients as a Counsel before Arbitral Tribunals in ad-hoc and institutional arbitration under all leading institutional rules (ICC, SIAC, LCIA, SCC, DIAC, HKIAC, AAA, etc.) and also acts as an Arbitrator. Currently, he is a Partner at Advani & Co. and is in-charge of the Delhi Office where he handles commercial litigation and arbitration verticals. He is also the Panel Counsel for GAIL (India) Limited, Special Counsel for Hindustan Copper Limited and Delhi Development Authority and Standing Counsel for Allahabad University.
Among others, he serves as a Joint Secretary of the Society for Construction Law and is also appointed as the Co-Chair of Society of Construction Law India’s Young Leaders Group. He is the Convenor of DREx Talks. Since 2018, he is the nominated Member from India to the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR. Nominated from the Delhi High Court, he is a member of the Arbitration Committee of the Delhi International Arbitration Centre, New Delhi and Editorial Board of the DIAC Journal of Arbitration and Indian Review of International Arbitration.
He has edited the book Alternative Dispute Resolution: The Indian Perspective published by Oxford University Press and has also authored a book titled Tourism Law in India published by Universal Law Publishing. Along with Professor Martin Hunter he has also co-authored, a chapter in the Handbook on International Arbitration published by Kluwer Publishing. He has also co-authored a chapter titled An Arbitrator’s Duty to Raise Public Policy Issues in International Arbitration Ex-officio in the book Commercial Arbitration: Emerging Trends and Practices published by Thomson Reuters in July, 2021.
