ALAIN FARHAD

Alain Farhad is a Partner in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice and he is the head of the Dispute Resolution practice in the United Arab Emirates. He has experience in resolving disputes relating to many different business sectors, with a focus on the oil and gas, infrastructure, trading and real estate industries. He has also represented a number of governments, as well as state-owned entities in commercial or investment treaty disputes. Alain has been based in Dubai since January 2011.

Andrew Mitchell is a Professor at the Faculty of Law, Monash University, and a member of the Indicative List of Panelists to hear WTO disputes. Andrew has taught law in Australia, Canada, Indonesia, Singapore, and the US and is the recipient of five major grants from the Australian Research Council (including a Future Fellowship) and the Australian National Preventive Health Agency.

He has published over 140 academic books and journal articles and is a Series Editor of the Oxford University Press International Economic Law Series. Dr. Berk Demirkol is a lecturer of Private International Law at the University of Galatasaray. SARA HOURANI

Dr. Sara Hourani is an Associate Professor (Senior Lecturer) at the School of Law, Middlesex University London. Sara also currently holds a Visiting Lectureship at the University of Aix-Marseille (France). Sara received an LLB degree from Grenoble II University (France), an LLM in International Trade Law and a PhD in Law from the University of Essex (UK). Sara was granted the prestigious UK Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) PhD scholarship to pursue her doctoral studies and has been the recipient of different grants and awards to carry out her research. She was also a John W Kluge Scholar at the Library of Congress in Washington DC which was funded by the AHRC to carry out research in international commercial law.

Sara's research interests are in the areas of international arbitration and international commercial law. More recently, Sara's work has been focusing on the use of new technologies in online dispute resolution and arbitration. This work has been presented in various fora such as Yale Law School, the UNCITRAL, the International Chamber of Commerce, the Blockchain Technology Conference 2019, the 2018 and 2019 ODR Forums and the Paris Chamber of International Arbitration (CAIP). Sara recently published a co-edited book on 'Access to Justice in Arbitration' with Wolters Kluwer.

MAGDALENA LAGIEWSKA

Magdalena Łągiewska is an Assistant Professor at the University of Gdańsk (Department of Public International Law), a Research Associate in the “China, Law and Development” project at the University of Oxford and a Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Gdańsk. She received a PhD in Law from the University of Gdańsk in 2017 and the second PhD in Law from the East China University of Political Science and Law in Shanghai in 2020 (PhD thesis titled “The Effectiveness of the Arbitration Agreement under Chinese and Polish Law: A Comparative Study” written in Chinese). In addition to her legal education, she completed a master's degree in international economic relations with a specialization in international finance and banking (University of Gdańsk).

She was granted a scholarship by the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government to take part in Shanghai Summer School 2015 (Belt and Road Countries Project) organized by the Shanghai International Studies University and other scholarship from the China Youth University for Political Sciences in Beijing. She gained practical experience in international commercial arbitration through her internship at the Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (SHIAC). Her research focuses on international law, international commercial arbitration in China, the protection of intellectual property rights and the legal dimensions of the Belt and Road Initiative.

ADITYA GUPTA

He has a keen interest in mooting and has been a Semi-finalist for the Willem C. Vis East International Commercial Arbitration Moot and the Henry Dunant International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition. Along with his team, he has won several accolades such as Hon'ble Mention for Claimant Memorandum and Respondent Memorandum at the Willem C. Vis East International Commercial Arbitration Moot, Best Memorial at the Henry Dunant International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition, etc. He was also the Counsel for the Overall Winning Team at the National Law School Trilegal International Arbitration Moot.

He regularly coaches teams participating in international moots, including the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. His experience also includes work at the UN International Law Commission as a research assistant to Dr. Aniruddha Rajput.

TAKASHI YOKOYAMA

Takashi Yokoyama is a Senior Manager and Counsel at SymBio Pharmaceuticals Limited. He is a Japanese U.S. attorney (admitted in N.Y.) and J.D. graduate from the University of Miami School of Law with an International Arbitration LL.M. degree which Professor Jan Paulsson founded and lectured in the courses. Prior to his study in Miami, he has engaged in corporate law practice and litigation management as a legal advisor in the legal departments at Sojitz Corporation (a global trading house) and a pharmaceutical company in Tokyo, Japan for nine years. During the time at the University of Miami School of Law, he interned various opportunities at the Energy Charter Secretariat (Brussels, Belgium), Bacardi-Martini Ltd, State Attorney Office and City of Miami (Miami, Florida) and Hogan Lovells (Tokyo, Japan).

He has also worked as a Dean's Fellow and Graduate Research Assistant for Professor Donald M. Jones. He has also represented the university for Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (Hong-Kong). He has published his articles "Arbitration in Japan-Next Chapter" at the International Law Quarterly 2018 Fall. Mr. Yokoyama has been participating in the 2019-2020 Young ICCA Mentoring Programme 6th Cycle under Professor William W. Park, the 2020 MAA Mentoring Programme under Professor Benjamin Hughes and the 2020 Young ITA Mentoring Programme.

ANAM GUBITRA

Anam Gubitra is a final year law student at Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai with an interest in International Economic law. This stems from her want to link Economic theory to all law and policy in her discussions and writing. She is currently working on a paper titled 'the Interface between Economics and Human trafficking.'

ANOUSHKA SINGH

Anoushka Singh is a final year law student at Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai with an interest in Blockchain technology, FinTech, and RegTech. She has been recognised for her proactive working style, ownership, and keen ability to effectively understand and translate complex situations into tangible action plans by her supervisors and peers.

Pia Tripathi is a second year law student at Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai with a proclivity for financial laws, competition law, and dispute resolution.
